NAVLE dates for 2026 to 2027: the three testing windows and application deadlines
Updated 20 October 2026
The NAVLE is not offered every day. ICVA schedules it in fixed testing windows, and each window has an application period. The dates below are as reported for the 2026 to 2027 cycle. Confirm them at icva.net, because dates and rules change each cycle.
The three windows
| Testing window | Application period |
|---|---|
| 12 October to 14 November 2026 | 1 June to 15 July 2026 |
| 1 to 20 March 2027 | 1 December 2026 to 7 January 2027 |
| 12 July to 7 August 2027 | 1 April to 7 May 2027 |
Rules that catch people out
- Late applications are reported as not accepted, and testing windows are not extended.
- If you miss your application window or do not test during your approved window, you reapply and pay the full fee again.
- Some licensing boards have their own timing rules, so check yours.
Planning around the BCSE
If you are a foreign-trained vet on the ECFVG pathway, you must pass the BCSE before you are approved for the NAVLE. That means your BCSE has to be done, with a margin for a retake, before the NAVLE application deadline you are aiming for. The BCSE is offered on a continuous basis, so work backwards from the application deadline. See BCSE exam dates and the BCSE retake policy.
