NAVLE exam fee in Indian rupees: how to calculate your budget
Prepared 23 October 2026 · VetQ
The NAVLE fee is published in US dollars, so an Indian-rupee budget depends on the fee that applies to your testing location and the conversion used for your payment. Nationality alone does not determine the testing-region fee. Separate the official dollar charge from an estimated rupee equivalent.
Identify the correct dollar amount
ICVA’s current application page lists US$825 for testing in the US, its territories or Canada, and US$1,220 outside those locations, including the international surcharge. Confirm the amount and any separate approval charges through your own application route before paying.
Convert with an explicitly dated rate
Multiply the dollar amount by the rupees-per-dollar rate quoted by your payment provider. For illustration only, at an invented rate of ₹90 per dollar, US$1,220 equals ₹109,800 before other charges. This is a worked example, not a current exchange-rate quote or a fee fixed in rupees.
Add payment costs separately
Ask your card issuer which conversion rate, foreign-currency markup and applicable taxes or charges it will use. Avoid adding a guessed percentage to every budget. Keep preparation, travel, accommodation and other licensing expenses on separate lines so the exam fee is not mistaken for the total cost of becoming licensed.
Build a budget you can update
Record the source date, dollar fee, exchange-rate assumption and payment charges in separate fields. Refresh the conversion near payment rather than reusing an old article’s rupee total. Two candidates can pay different rupee amounts because their providers and payment dates differ. The calculation also changes if they test in different fee regions. Use the calculator on this page to explore your own assumptions; it does not fetch a live rate or promise the amount your bank will settle.
Check your understanding
At a fictional rate of ₹90 per US dollar, what is the rupee equivalent of US$825? Does that automatically apply to an Indian citizen testing in India?
Read the answer and reasoning
825 × 90 = ₹74,250 before other charges. No: use the fee for the actual testing location and application route. Citizenship does not by itself determine the testing-region charge.
